Mass spectrometer Autospec Ultima (Micromass), connected with GC HP 6890
Possibilities:
ionization modes - EI,CI,FI
sample introduction - GC, direct inlet, DCI
cryogenic canister system Tekmar AeroCan (Tekmar Dohrmann, Cincinnati,USA) - analysis of organic volatiles in ambient air
high resolution measurements
NIST and Wiley libraries
miniAGHIS inlet system (for petroleum type analysis)
SPME, thermal desorption, pyrolysis and PTV (Optic 2)
Examples of applications:
Organic compounds of almost all origin, suited better for substances with MW upto 1000. In case of sample preparation, nearly any currently used method is available. Starting from lower MW compounds, there is a possibility to distinguish noble gases, natural gas compounds, volatile organic compounds. This may be accomplished by way of direct analysis, sorption on tubes with various kinds of materials, including physical sorption or chemisorption, canister system analysis, solid phase micro extraction (SPME) and others.
Middle through higher molecular weight compounds are usually delivered to the ion source via GC connection or direct insertion probe, in case of chemical individuals there is a score of methods available including direct insertion with electron impact, direct chemical ionization method, field ionization or desorption method.
SPME is currently used to measure organics in water solutions including phenols, chlorinated pesticides and similar POPs.

Mass spectrometer Q-TOF (Micromass) connected with HPLC, electro spray, APCI

Examples of applications :
This instrument is suited for small through middle weight molecules, in principle all kinds of compounds exept for peptides (however, there is the potential to measure this kind of compounds,), there is field for analysis of mostly all of organic analytes. Outside of HPLC, other introductory systems are available, including nanospray.
This kind of technique is designed especially for teams concerned with organic synthesis as an ideal tool for precise molecular weight determination by way of both positive and negative electrospray and APCI MS analysis.
Lock-spray utility enables measurements of high molecular weight compounds with high precision, there is no other instrument meeting this range of precision.
