Visa Application
All students who wish to study in the Czech Republic, with the exception of those from the EU countries, are required to have a student visa valid for the whole period of their stay in the country. It is not possible to apply for visa on the territory of the Czech Republic, but an application has to be submitted to the Czech embassy or consulate in the student's home country.
Due to the extensive amount of time often required to process a visa application, you should apply for your visa as early as possible. Each embassy or consular post has their own application procedures, so you should consult the office where you will be applying for specific details. Most offices have a website with this type of information.
A word of caution: contact the representative by telephone or by visiting their web site and submitting your information.
It takes about 60 - 90 days to process an application and therefore it´s strongly recommended to apply sufficiently in advance. Visa application forms are available at all embassies and consulates of the Czech Republic in five major world languages.
There are two types of student visa, one up to 90 days, the other for a stay extending over 90 days. You have to submit the following documents:
Up to 90 days
The visa in the form of a sticker placed in your passport will be issued by the Czech embassy/consulate within 14 to 30 days.
Over 90 days (Long Term Residence Permit, issuing for 1 year, i.e. 365 days)
Getting Your Visa
As soon as you receive an admissions acceptance letter from ICT Prague, request a visa from the Czech Republic consulate or embassy in your country.
Schedule your visa interview as soon as possible after you receive the letter about your admission.
Take all the documents that you might need to your interview.
Be prepared to present your information quickly
If the visa is approved, you will be given a visa stamp in the passport. The visa is a stamp in the passport indicating where the visa was issued, the date the visa will expire, the number of entries, the type of visa and the visa number.
The entire procedure takes about six weeks (including postal deliveries), and you will have to visit the embassy/consulate a second time with your passport. It is no longer possible to pick up your visa in the Czech Republic, and no exceptions can be made!
The visa is issued by an embassy/consulate within 60 - 90 days.
ICT Prague offers accommodation services in its halls of residence, in double study bedrooms. Two bedrooms each share a kitchenette and bathroom facilities. The bedrooms are equipped with basic furniture, with a refrigerator and a cooker available in the kitchenette. The rent for a double study bedroom currently costs abt. CZK 92,- per day, with internet connection (about CZK 2.800,- per month). The halls of residence run their own canteen, which provides meals throughout the day. One meal comes to CZK 35,-- on the average.
The ICT Prague Halls of Residence offer facilities for a wide range of students' leisure time activity, including student clubs, fitness centres, tennis courts, a darkroom, etc. Students may also rent a mountain bike.
The Halls of Residence are situated on the southern outskirts of Prague, about 45 minutes by underground from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague-Dejvice.
Public transport to the halls of residence: from Dejvická station take underground A – green line to Museum station, there transfer to red line C to Chodov station and by bus number 177, 197 and 511 to Volha stop.
Applications for accommodation are accepted at the Department of International Relations of ICT Prague (fax No. +420 220 444 345). Students are obliged to inform this Department about the exact date of their arrival, not later than three weeks in advance.

A foreign student entering the Czech Republic for a period longer than two months must undergo a health entrance examination which certifies that the state of health of the applicant permits him/her to study at the ICT. The health entrance examination fee is about US$ 50. Foreign students are advised to take out health and accident insurance with the General Health Insurance Company and the Czech Insurance Company for about US$ 40 per months. This is not required if they can present an evidence of health and accident insurance taken out in their home country and valid for the Czech Republic.
Students (15 - 26 years old) will obtain a confirmation from ICT Prague enabling them to buy a student passes for Prague public transport. Passes provide unlimited rides throughout Prague quickly, comfortably and traffic-free on underground, trams, buses, trains, and trail-ferries. In 2013 a monthly student pass costs CZK 260,- and a quarterly student pass CZK 720,-.
