Admission Conditions to Studies and Study Regulations for Students from Abroad at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Prague and at its Faculties

Conditions of Study for Students from Abroad at ICT Prague
- ICT Prague admits foreign students to study programmes in Czech language on the basic of commitments following from international agreements signed by the Czech Republic. Admission to studies and admission proceedings are set by the internal regulation Admission to Studies and Admission Proceedings at ICT Prague (available in Czech language). A student from abroad must prove adequate knowledge of the Czech language. A student who has completed his secondary education or graduated from a bachelor or engineering study programme in the Czech Republic fulfils this condition. ICT can also accept other examinations as evidence of adequate knowledge of the Czech language. The original of an appropriate certificate or an officially verified copy must be submitted. Unless there is an international agreement to the contrary, applicants and students from abroad will pay the same fees for studies at ICT Prague as other applicants and students.
- ICT Prague admits foreign students to study programmes in the Czech language under the same conditions as Czech citizens. The condition for study by a foreign student is his provable knowledge of the Czech language. Admission to studies and admission proceedings for all applicants are set by the internal regulation Admission to Studies and Admission Proceedings at ICT Prague. Foreign students will pay the same fees for studies at ICT Prague as other applicants and students.
- ICT Prague admits students to the study programme conducted in English language and sets the fee for this kind of study. Thereafter, these are the so-called self-financing students.
- ICT Prague offers study programmes for students of foreign universities in the form of time-limited stays or exchange undergraduate study stays. The conditions for the study stays of foreign students are set by agreements concluded between foreign universities and ICT Prague at university or faculty level. During their studies at ICT Prague such students have the rights and duties of a student unless the agreement specifies otherwise, particularly in matters of health and injury insurance. Graduates of these study stays will obtain a certificate of graduation issued by ICT Prague.

Admission to Study
- ICT Prague and its faculties admit to bachelor and engineering study programmes conducted in English language students from abroad who have graduated from a secondary school and who have proved that they have the required qualifications.
- ICT Prague and its faculties admit to doctoral study programmes conducted in English language students from abroad who have graduated from a master's-level study programme or who have graduated from a university of adequate level comparable to that in the Czech Republic (M.Sc., M.A.) in a given or related branch and who have proved that they have the required qualifications.
- ICT Prague checks the required qualifications in conjunction with other admission conditions, in particular taking into account knowledge and study results from secondary or special education or university, including a medical report on the applicant's state of health, and a report on the applicant's suitability for study at ICT Prague. Fulfilment of the requirements for admission to the study programme is tested by a written and/or oral entrance examination. The written and/or oral entrance examination is taken in chemistry and mathematics; the examination curriculum is based on that of secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The criterion of evaluation of the entrance examination results in individual subjects is the mark awarded on the basis of the total point score for the individual questions. An applicant who passes the written entrance examination in both subjects with at least the assessment "good" is proposed to the dean of the faculty for admission to study without being asked to take an oral examination. An applicant who fails to pass the written examination in one of the subjects is invited to an oral examination held by the examination board. After being examined in this subject the applicant may be recommended for admission by the board.
- The dean can remit the entrance examination or part of it on the basis of study results and the level of the school from which the applicant graduated.

Registration
- On registration the foreign applicant submits:
- receipt of permission for long-term residence in the Czech Republic
- receipt of health and injury insurance valid in the Czech Republic for the next academic year
- a medical report certifying health fitness for study at ICT Prague.
- An original or officially verified copy is regarded as a receipt in accordance with paragraph 1.
- A foreign self-financing student must conclude a study agreement in a study programme conducted in English language with ICT Prague within 3 calendar days after registration.

Fee for Studies in English Language
- ICT Prague announces the fee for studies in English language at least 2 months before the deadline for applications.
- The fee once paid is not returnable in the case of discontinued studies due to:
- non-fulfilment of requirements following from the study programme according to Czech study and examination law
- being expelled from studies in accordance with §65, section1.c), or §67 of the law No. 111/1998.
- A fee paid for studies in English language is returnable only in part in the case of discontinued studies due to:
- abandonment of studies
- withdrawal of accreditation of the study programme
- expiry of accreditation of the study programme
In the cases stated in sections a) to c) above, ICT Prague will return a proportionate part of the fee for study in English language after deduction of moneys already expended. - The fee for study in English language is payable within 15 calendar days after registration. The day of crediting the account of ICT Prague is taken to be the day of payment.
- The rector or the Vice-Rector for International Relations assigned by him can on the basis of a written application from a self-financing student, decide upon payment of fees for study in English language by instalments.

General regulations
- Foreign self-financing students must fulfil the study agreement mentioned in §4, section 3. Non-fulfilment of this agreement is usually considered a disciplinary offence.
- Foreign self-financing students who complete their studies successfully will receive from ICT Prague a university degree and a state examination certificate in Czech language and an officially verified translation into English.
- If the student so wishes ICT Prague (the Dean's Office of the respective faculty) will provide him with accommodation in a Hall of Residence of ICT Prague. The student pays for the accommodation and is required to observe the rules and the instructions of the administration of the Halls of Residence. Failure to observe these may lead to the expulsion of the student from the Hall of Residence. In this case, ICT Prague is not obliged to provide the student with substitute accommodation.
- The faculty providing the study programme issues to a self-financing foreign student on demand a receipt for studies stating the form of study and certifying that the student is self-financing.
- For the entire period of his studies the student is required, at his own expense to obtain health and injury insurance valid for the Czech Republic and to present evidence of insurance to ICT Prague before registration. If a student wants to conclude a health and injury insurance contract for foreigners in the Czech Republic with the General Health Insurance Company and the Czech Insurance Company, he can ask the Dean's Office of the respective faculty for organizational assistance in fulfilling the requirements of the Insurance Companies for issuing an insurance policy.
- A foreign student may take meals in the canteen under the conditions given by the canteen administration. The Dean's Office of the respective faculty will provide the student with a certificate of study for presentation to the canteen administration.
- ICT Prague (the Dean's Office of the respective faculty) will provide the student with a self-financing foreign student's certificate to obtain a season ticket for municipal transport. The charge for issuing a season ticket and the payment for the tickets are determined by the Municipal Transport Company and are covered by the student.
- The student can ask the Dean's Office of the respective faculty for assistance in obtaining a medical report regarding his state of health in relation to his study branch. The student can also ask the Department of international Relations or the Dean's Office for assistance in obtaining a long-term residence permit and other items resulting from the regulations for the residence of foreign citizens on the territory of the Czech Republic.
