Current research topics at the Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology

Scientific and research activity forms an integral part of the Faculty's life. It is pursued on a broad scope of both primary and applied research, and funded from grants awarded in public competitions, orders from industry, and also, to a lower extent, through the internal grant system at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague. Success of research workers in winning both international and national grants testifies to the high standard of research at the Faculty. The Faculty participates in international schemes such as TEMPUS-PHARE, COPERNICUS, COST, EUREKA, SOCRATES, the Czech-American Program, in the implementation of projects backed by the Czech Grant Agency (GA ÈR), and in other programmes, e.g. the Universities Development Fund, the programme of the Czech Ministry of Education and Youth "Strengthening Research at Universities", and in projects backed by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture National Agency for Agricultural Research, the Czech Ministry of the Environment, the Czech Academy of Sciences Grant Agency, etc.

The Faculty strives to maintain and further improve the structure of its scientific and teaching staff, to modernize its instrumental equipment, enhance students' motivation for scientific and research activities, and to promote scientific cooperation on both the national and international level. The Faculty's scientific programme has been always aimed at the broadest possible cooperation with Czech industrial plants and institutions. The Faculty hopes that further stimuli to this effect will arise with the completion of the process of restructuring and privatization of Czech enterprises.
