Forms of Study at the Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology
Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology (FFBT) offers the following forms of study:
Courses in the first three years of MSc study programmes are very similar at all faculties and provide fundamentals which are common to all students at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague. Two years of specialized studies follow. The objective of the study programmes and specialized studies is to teach students a general engineering approach to problems they will later encounter in industrial practice, based on a sound knowledge of the principles of specific technological processes and on their own experimental work. Graduates from a specific field can pursue their professional careers within their field of specialization, but they can easily adapt themselves to other fields as well. Most departments collaborate with leading experts in the given field, including visiting professors and lecturers. Their professional lectures not only enrich the instruction but they also help students improve their proficiency in foreign languages. Students' practical training in industrial facilities of the
given field is an inseparable part of the study.
The three-year BSc study programme runs parallel to MSc study programmes. The admission procedure is common to both forms of the study. The objective of the BSc study programme is to prepare experts for food processing facilities, control and inspection institutions, and for the sphere of trade and state administration.
After successfully completing their MSc study programme, students can further their professional knowledge in a three-year PhD study programme concluded with a state Doctor's examination and the defense of a dissertation.
The following survey lists the programmes of study, individual subprogrammes and various specialized courses provided at the Faculty. All subprogrammes within MSc degree study programmes have been accredited by the Federation of European National Associations of Engineers (FEANI), which allows for the award of the title Eur.Ing.
