Experimental Equipment
The experimental equipment of the Department includes:
- Furnaces for melting glasses and firing ceramics
- Special devices for modeling technological processes
Instrumentation for:
- Characterization of raw materials and products
- Chemical analysis
- Testing of mechanical, electrical, optical and other properties of materials
- Testing of chemical stability and interactions with surrounding environment
- Viscosity and electrical conductivity measurements of molten glasses
Cooperation with other Departments
Methods of optical and electron microscopy are available as well as X-ray microanalysis. Other methods such as X-ray structural analysis, IR spectroscopy, NMR etc. can be explored in cooperation with other Departments or Central Laboratories. The equipment is used for both education and research. In addition to fundamental theoretical research, free capacity can be offered for grant-turned projects or contract-research for industrial institutions.
