UCT Prague is a research university primarily focused on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, material and chemical engineering, food science, and environmental science. Its cutting-edge facilities and equipment together, with an impressive scientific and research profile, make it an ideal training ground for the managerial, R&D, and public sector leaders of the future.
UCT Prague has four faculties. Its competitive edge lies in its unique “weaving together” of teaching activities with the highest-quality basic and applied research. Across UCT Prague, scientific teams are intensively involved in various national and international cooperative R&D efforts. The Project Centre provides methodological and administrative support to researchers submitting project applications and managing funded projects.
UCT Prague considers the commercialisation of applied research to be an important part of its mission. For that reason, UCT Prague’ss Research and Technology Transfer Office offers researchers support, contributing to extending valourisation of scientific outputs and pursuing the quest for new collaborative partners in applied settings. In 2015, UCT Prague opened Technopark Kralupy, a science and technology hub focused on chemistry for building construction applications, materials engineering, and related fields. The Technopark plays an essential role in UCT Prague’s technology transfer efforts and strategies.
The Research and Technology Transfer Office facilitates internal grants for researchers and students, offers opportunities to compete in prestigious research competitions, and promotes active engagement and participation in student conferences.
UCT Prague is an attractive institution for young scientists and early career researchers, and the Project Centre actively supports hosting and mentoring ECRs, e.g. as part of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Here, ECRs can apply for a prestigious start-up grant, the Dagmar Procházková Fund, in order to create their own UCT Prague research groups. Postdoctoral fellows at UCT Prague receive extensive international mobility support for broadening their research horizons.
UCT Prague is actively involved in global scientific efforts and is continuously expanding and deepening its collaborations with partners around the world. The basic pillars of these activities include scientific research projects, inter-university cooperation memoranda, and Erasmus+ agreements. UCT Prague additionally creates and accredits joint study programmes with universities abroad.
Paving the way for the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, UCT Prague is committed to creating collegial working conditions, supporting continuous professional development, and transparent hiring procedures. The Personnel Department co-creates facilities for employees together with the Welcome Centre, which supports employees arriving from abroad, from assisting with the visa process to answering questions about everyday life in Prague. In its determination to be an attractive and welcoming institution for all employees and students, UCT Prague has created a Gender Equality Plan, an executive action initiative.

Antončík Filip, MSc.
I run for: faculty senate for doctoral students
I study: 1st year of Ph.D. - study program Chemistry
Who am I?
As a first-year, I have been actively participating in the research of high-temperature superconductors at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. I believe that cooperation with industry is crucial in technological research, hence I have been cooperating with a company specializing in high-temperature superconductors for over two years. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing and electric guitar.
Why should you vote for me?
In the academic senate, I would like to focus on improving the communication between the student and the university, which has sometimes been a very frustrating experience for me (I believe I speak for most). Furthermore, I would like to reduce the amount of administrative work, which is often quite a burden for Ph.D. students. I would also like to introduce new out-of-school activities which would be tied to chemistry.

Domín Vojtěch, BSc.
I run for: university senate
I study: 1st year of MSc. - study program Hydrogen and membrane technologies
Who am I?
At the UCT, I study Hydrogen and Membrane Technologies and do mathematical modelling of electrode reactions. Aside from school, I spend my time photographing with my old film camera, running or cycling.
Why should you vote for me?
I decided to run for the Senate mostly for my desire to improve things around me. At first, I organised educational projects focused on soft skills and I have been working on projects at the university with other active students and senators lately. If elected, I am planning to focus on soft skills once again, as all of us will need to be able to communicate and argument for what we learn here. Besides, I would like to work on the improving educational situation at the UCT.

Faltysová Ivana
I run for: faculty senate for BSc. and MSc. students
I study: 2nd year of BSc. - study program Chemistry and technology of materials
Who am I?
I am studying the second year of Chemistry and Technology of Materials programme. I like to spend my free time in the mountains, not only as a tourist, but also as a climber. In bad weather you can find me on a climbing wall, in theater or in cinema halls.
Why should you vote for me?
I want to run for the academic senate so that I can reduce the amount of paperwork, which is not only connected with studies, from a position within the system. Especially in these difficult times, everything needs to be done online and not spend long hours in line at the dean's office. I will be happy to be your proud representative.

Jindra Martin, BSc.
I run for: university senate
I study: 2nd year of MSc. program Nanomaterials and materials for electronics
Who am I?
I am a fifth year student, a senator of the faculty senate of FCT with an ending mandate, an avid musical instrument player with insufficient musical hearing, and last but not least, a person who is not afraid to say out loud his opinions.
Why should you vote for me?
As a member of the student part of the faculty senate, I think I begun to understand the functioning of the FCT and other parts of the UCT. So I will be able to orientate myself very quickly in the university senate and cooperate with them.

Kuncová Anežka, BSc.
I run for: faculty senate for BSc. and MSc. students
I study: 1st year MSc. - study program Drug synthesis
Who am I?
Hi everyone! My name is Anežka (I can teach you how to pronounce that, just ask me when you see me walking down the street) and I am a first year grad student majoring in Drug synthesis. At school, I am a member of a student organization IAESTE, where I was also elected as a board member last year. In my free time I love to ski, cook and add random tv shows in my Netflix list and never watch them after.
Why should you vote for me?
It is my fourth year at UCT so I am slowly but surely becoming one of the student veterans. That means that I spent a fair amount of time on the school campus (mainly in the basement of building B – where Carbon café is). Not only have I had the chance to figure out how the school works, but mainly I have met a lot of different people. I am of the opinion that the priority of a student senator should not be pushing their own ideas but listening to other students and consequently working on a solution for their problems. Therefore I am ready to take on the position open-minded and listen to everyone who cares about what is going on at our school.

I am strongly opinionated, but prefer having all the facts before committing to something or making important decisions.
Why should you vote for me?
I’d like international students to feel as welcomed here as possible. Because of that, I’d like to help them interact with non-international students and help them by providing English versions of study materials.

Who am I?
An active student, who takes interest in school agenda. Already as a freshman, I joined the Advanced Composite Materials group in the Inorganic Chemistry department. In my free time I often ride my bike or travel.
Why should you vote for me?
In the academic senate, my main focus would be digitalization of communication between the student and the school. Especially in current times that make in-person communication very difficult, I see digitalization of communication between the student and the school as a field, in which our school has a great deficiency.

Zahradník Šimon
I run for: faculty senate for BSc. and MSc. students
I study: 2nd year of BSc. - study program Drug synthesis and production
Who am I?
Hi, my name is Simon but my friends usually call me Simon. When I was sixteen a friend locked me in a theatre and forced me to learn the script, how to control the lights, sound and how to build a stage. Nowadays, I do not learn scripts anymore but I still enjoy the engineering. I always try to keep my cool, so my boys say that I have a velvety voice.. and that’s all I can think of..
Why should you vote for me?
Well, someone already took the trouble to nominate me and I took the trouble with writing this.. No, but seriously. In these times, when not even our presence in school is assured, it would be nice to have uniformly and especially well-handled lectures and seminars. Students should not be under any circumstances losing information when not attending classes, no matter the reason. If you were to have any ideas or questions for the senate, you would not need to write an email. All it would take would be a few steps down into Carbon, where under normal conditions, I am in liquid state. Also.. every school needs it’s gardener (it works better in Czech, just translate my last name)..

Hrdličková Petra, MSc.
I run for: university senate and faculty senate for doctoral students
I study: 1st year of Ph.D. - study program Environmental Chemistry and technology
Who am I?
I am Petra Hrdličková, a doctoral student. During my student life at the UCT, I went through two faculties, but apart from FTE, I found myself. I'm an optimist, an organizer and a bit lazy. My motto is "Do what you enjoy, then the obstacles will be smaller."
Why should you vote for me?
I should be chosen for my organization and the effort to find a viable solution for all. I would like to participate in a better organization of incoming doctoral students and facilitate their harder beginnings in this study, popularization and visibility of our faculty. And last but not least, speed up the connection of school e-mail, especially calendars, with MS Teams.

Hušek Matěj, MSc.
I run for: university senate and faculty senate for doctoral students
I study: 1st year of Ph.D. - study program Fuel and Energy
Who am I?
My name is Matěj Hušek, I studied Waste management at FTOP. Currently, I am continuing as a PhD student. In my PhD, I focus on sewage sludge treatment. I have experience studying abroad (1 year in Oulu, Finland). With my PhD studies, I would like to improve myself through other internships and research to be able to work abroad.
Why should you vote for me?
I would like that the UCT will become the university of the 21st century, with facilities for students and a significant proportion of teaching in English. The environment of our school is sterile, corridors are occupied by old furniture, not meeting today's standards. Students who are not early birds do not get a vacant chair in the Respirium and are wholly dependent on NTK. Where are the places for relaxation, for creating a group or own projects? Not at the UCT. The well-established principle of "come, listen and leave" does not create a very creative place for young people to meet and educate themselves. At the same time, I would like to have English as one of the official languages of the UCT and increase the volume of subjects taught in English with Czech and international students.
In the FTOP faculty senate, I would like to work on three points: vision x cooperation x modern teaching: My efforts would be: 1) Aim at promoting a clearly defined idea of the faculty's direction, setting short-term and long-term goals. 2) To set up visible cooperation between institutes. We are a small faculty, and without collaboration, we are not able to move forward. 3) Use the post-covid period to combine traditional teaching with new methods (interactive education with more significant student involvement, a functioning MS Teams platform). Try to increased cooperation with industry, not just with excursions.

Jermář Petr

I´m an open-minded person and I really enjoy making fun of whatever crosses my mind. Briefly, I want to live an exciting life with a lot of fun. It doesn´t sound so bad, does it?
Why should you vote for me?
Election promises, we all know them. I promise you nothing. Just one little thing. I will behave the way I usually do. Now, when you already know who I am, the choice won´t be very hard. I will stay open-minded and communicative as I always do. So let´s go vote!

Keprtová Karolína, MSc.
I run for: university senate
I study: 3rd year of Ph.D. - study program Environmental Chemistry and technology
Who am I?
I am a graduate of the master's degree program in Waste Management. After graduation, I worked for a year as an analyst at the Ďáblice landfill. I started my doctorate because I missed the scientific research environment and I felt that I wanted to continue my education and at the same time participate in teaching in the lower grades. I work at CENIA, the Czech Environmental Agency, as an IPPC specialist, and I have the opportunity to get to know the issue of environmental protection from the point of view of industrial ecologists.
Why should you vote for me?
My goal is to represent the interests of students, especially with a focus on better functioning of communication between students and the management of our school. I will bring the information about current events.

In my free time you would find me on a football game, playing bridge or hiking. I highly appreciate time spent time with my friends. They would probably describe me as a cheerful guy who tells a lot of dad jokes.
Why should you vote for me?
I would like to change impression that other students get when they hear the name of our faculty. During my studies I found out that our faculty misses active students that others have even though we are the smallest of all the faculties. My biggest goal is to get to the similar level of cooperative work between students and teachers on faculty in order not to be the burden to other faculties. I would also like to enforce students’ proposals from group of active students and senators (K3S) in our academic senate and persuade more fellow students to become the active ones.

This is my fourth year at UCT and I have lots of experience, I love UCT and I know what‘s needed to change. Thanks to my experience with the Tutors I know the organisation of some projects and how the school functions. I also take interest in the current events at school. As a Group Tutor I come into contact with the first year students and know their issues. I think I have lots of empathy and I try to listen to students‘ problems so I share their experince with the senate. I struggled with many issues in the bachelor study as well, some were study related, some were psychological, and know the studies can be hard at times, but many problems, some of which are caused by our imperfect system, can be solved and I can hear out your obsrvations and give them to the senate and deal with them.

Malý Matěj, BSc.
I run for: university senate
I study: 2nd year of MSc. - study program Food quality and safety
Who am I?
I am currently finishing the 5th year and I am preparing for a PhD study. UCT has grown to my heart from the first moment, and it is still so today. In freshman year, I founded the After first semester party. Within the UNI-ART student association we organize various activities for students. I was in the faculty senate for 2 years, I went to two Erasmus, to France and Austria.
Why should you vote for me?
Two years in the „small“ faculty senate was a great experience for me. I organized a streamed discussion with the candidates for the new dean of our faculty, we have been working for a long time to improve distance learning. Thanks to these and other experiences of negotiations with the management, I gained valuable contacts not only across the faculty, but also the entire UCT. Since I care very much about our school and its students, I would like to promote their interests in the school-wide "big" senate. After my experience from abroad, I would emphasize greater internationalization of the UCT,support for internships abroad and teaching English. At the same time, I want to motivate active students and help them implement their ideas, because our students can do more than they often think.

Kandiduji do: fakultního senátu za BSc. A Mgr. studenty
I study: 2nd year of BSc. - study program Biochemistry and biotechnology
Who am I?
I'm John, an enthusiastic chemist, who is unable to live without chemistry (like if anyone could- HAHA). My interest in chemistry has started in grammar school, where I'm attending as a lab assistant today, co I can help our future schoolmates. If you'd be looking for me in any of the guilds, you will find me in the Balling's homebrewers guild! And why is it important? As soon as it will be possible, we will do our best to prepare a unique beer experience each month in Carbon, so our meetings can be even more connected.
Why should you vote for me?
Next to chemistry I'm also interested in politics and environment. The Academic senate is the ideal institution for me, which I'd love to be part of. It's a place, which I perceive as a place of opportunity and new ideas to improve studies at our university. I'm open to new ideas, different opinions and dialogue. In case of any problem, I'm able to keep my head cool, so you could refer to me for help. I'd love to get even more involved in school's life a become the one, who will protect your opinions, requests and suggestions on the ground of the Academic senate. I hope that UCT will become my Alma mater and I will have my conscience clear, because I've done everything to be part of UCT's life.

Vaňous Jan, BSc.
I run for: university and faculty senate for BSc. an MSc. students
I study: 1st year of MSc. - study program Mikrobiology and genetic engineering
Who am I?
I am an ordinary student of one extraordinary Prague university - UCT. I like science a lot, genetics the most, so that is why i am here studying Genetic engineering. Meanwhile, I am also very interested into what's happening in school, I participate in many events, I'm actively competing in Šípkův pohár and I am a member of Tutor group.
Why should you vote for me?
I like studies on UCT, it is amazing in most cases, despite of some existing hassles (we all know some od them). So I would like to participate on influencing what is happening at school and change that some hassles or ward off their coming, but i would like also to change the perception of UCT in vincinity.
I went to study on UCT od mine own accord but I would not have known about existence of UCT if there wasn't a lecture of prof. Kodíček, who had been invited on our grammar school by our chemistry teacher. Professor Kodíček recount us about Biochemistry and I liked it so much that after the lecture I visited UCT on open doors days. Since then I am trying to increase awareness about UCT among younger students, which I am lectoring or which I am actively chatting with.
As far as I am concerned about what is happening at school, i would like to influence mostly the students' awareness about activities they can be part of and collective connecting of all people in school (so can be within a departement, within a faculty or between faculties). I am glad if I can help other or give them some good piece of advice, and although I have a lot of options about this as a member of Tutors and a co-leader of Schoolgroup tutoring project, I believe that I will have more chances to help and change something as a senator.

My philosophy is that, as far as I can help or in the position to help, I will and this is why I am running for academic senate.
Why should you vote for me?
As an international student with long standing experience in our university, i bring on board a unique perspective to matters concercning students. Indeed as someone who has had to do a lot of fighting to be heard in UCT, you can bet that i will fight as hard to represent your interests.

Ladislavová Nikola, MSc.
I run for: faculty senate for doctoral students
I study: 5th year of doctora Ph.D. - study program Chemistry
Who am I?
I am administrator of facebook page Doktorandi VŠCHT Praha (feel free to join us!) and I candidate for the 4th year in our faculty senat. I study at the Department of analytical chemistry where I administrate english version of departments websites. And I try to keep e-doktorand system working through my annoying feedbacks.
Why should you vote for me?
Arguments like I support english-speaking student (translating materials, website etc.) are a bit senseless, becouse I believe every candidate to our senate actually does. My main goal is to enhance our (PhD students) position through the model of guaranteed grant half-employment of PhD student at departments.

Lee Yejune
I run for: university senate for BSc. and MSc. students
I study: 2nd year of BSc. - study program Analytic chemistry
Who am I?
I was born in Seoul. When I was 6 y.o. I moved to the ČR. I didn't know anyone, and I didn't speak Czech at all. In fact, my life at that time was quite like today's situation. When I was lost, my science teacher was who has saved me. Based on his advice, I studied at Křemencárna, where my class teacher guided me to the path of analytical chemistry. That’s why I'm here at the UCT Prague now.
Why should you vote for me?
Based on my story, I will explain why you should vote for me.
- I am Korean. (I will do the job quickly and responsibly.)
- I am happy to offer support.
- I can empathize with the role of a foreigner.
- I am formal.
- I am purposeful. (i.e. If I want to do something, I will do it right away.)
- I can solve unpleasant situations (e.g. adapting to new life in the Czech Republic).
- Hardworking type - I quote T. A. Edison: "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."
- I like what I do. = I do it because I like it. - For me, this equation holds.
I admit. I have never been a senator and I also do not know what will be expected of me. But I can assure you that I will do my best to make your vote count.
In the end, I’d like to state my motto: "I will make it happen. Perfectly."

Otta Jaroslav, MSc.
I run for: faculty senate for Ph.D. students
I study: 3rd year of doctora Ph.D. - study program Technical cybernetics
Who am I?
I am a positive person and I try to spread positivity around me. I appreciate the most sincere and honest people. Therefore, UCT is so important to me, because I have met many such people here who have become my friends. I am trying my best to become a better version of myself. I like to experience new things. My hobbies are sports, music, video, travelling, flying drones and much more.
Why should you vote for me?
I like to face new challenges, gain new skills and experience. My most valuable qualities are patience, sincerity, determination and perseverance. These qualities are, in my opinion, crucial for a senator. I like discussion and with strong arguments, I am not afraid to reconsider my opinion. I know that your vote put your trust in me. I will try to speak with you as much as possible and listen to your ideas and complains. I spend a lot of time at the UCT and I care which direction we go. I want to support student associations. I believe that the current situation gives us an amazing opportunity to change and improve many neglected things, not just in the area of teaching and education.

Staś Jakub, BSc.
I run for: faculty senate for BSc. and MSc. students
I study: 1st year of MSc. - study program Chemical engineering and bioengeneering
Who am I?
I am a graduate of bachelor study program Chemistry and now I am a student of master study program Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. Why should you vote for me?
Thanks to K3S, I have a chance to see the functioning of our school under the hood and I have always enjoyed being part of the changes, not just watching them idly. I have always appreciated her family atmosphere and openness to students at the ICT, so I think we can change things for the better. I would like to work to simplify trips abroad and continue with the things that my predecessors started. I have always been very communicative and tried to listen to the opinions of others. I believe that these qualities are very useful, both in discussions within the Senate and in finding problems that other students face.

Šálek Vojtěch, MSc.
I run for: university senate and faculty senate for Ph.D. students
study: 3rd year of Ph.D. - study program Chemical engineering
Who am I?
I am a Tutor, faculty senate member, and a member of K3S (active student union). I have been involved in the popularization of UCT and in the integration of new students (Gaudeamus fairs, coorganization of UCT open day, freshman adaptation courses, freshman tutoring, and other tutor or K3S activities) for many years. Recently, I focus myself on the (mainly technical) support of distance education.
Why should you vote for me?
Because I have the desire to responsibly and actively use the role of senator to promote starting projects/visions and to improve the cooperation between students and employees. The ideal time has come (3rd Ph.D. year) to offer my experience from the faculty senate and from many student projects mentioned above. In short, I would like to continue my previous activities and participate constructively in the development of life at the UCT. I would like to focus on improving interfaculty cooperation and making use of hard-earned distance learning experience, which I am very close to thanks to the technical support role. Other topics eg: availability and quality of electronic study resources, Ph.D. students preparation for the first teaching, a low number of final theses written in English.

Vasilopoulos Ioannis, MSc.
I run for: university senate
study: 4th year of Ph.D. - program Chemical Engineering
Who am I?
I am Ioannis (Yannis) Vasilopoulos, a PhD candidate of Chemical Engineering specializing in molecular modelling of pharmaceutical compounds. This year, I am finishing my doctorate degree and I think it is time for me to offer also something to the community before my graduation. Primarily, if I had the power I would change the regulation regarding the state exams and credit system regarding the PhD studies.
Why should you vote for me?
I have worked in 4 different institutions throughout Europe (Greece, Czech Republic, United Kingdom). This experience helped enabled me to understand our University's benefits and drawbacks and compared them with other top institutions aiming to get inspired and benefiting our institution eventually. You should vote for me because I need your support to discuss potential changes necessary for our PhD community with the people in charge, mainly regarding the regulation regarding the state exams and credit system. I also observe that the international community grows at UCT and they need a representative to channel their concerns for a better university life of all.

Vávra František
I run for: university senate and faculty senate for BSc. and MSc. students
study: 2nd year of BSc. - study program Chemistry
Who am I?
My name is František Vávra, I am 21 and I´ve been studying the programme “Chemie” for 3 years now. I am technically in the second year though, since I did my Erasmus last year and I needed to extend my study time. My international experience has inspired me to run for the academic senate of UCT Prague. In my free time, I work at the Organic chemistry department, I do sports and I play guitar.
Why should you vote for me?
If I get elected, I will promote these ideas:
Students at our university who want to study abroad currently face absurdly complicated bureaucracy and a risk of extending their study time. This must be improved. Arranging an Erasmus needs to be fully online and user-friendly.
Right now, our online teaching system is a complete anarchy. We have to use MS Teams, MS Stream, elearning, Moodle, shared disks, Youtube, emails…
The school must unite the teaching process and select, if possible, one platform for teaching and testing.
Physical education has nothing to do with the core of our study programmes. Therefore, it should be voluntary for Bc. students.
Bachelor programmes seriously lack practical experience. At least some form of educational excursions to the industry should be introduced.
