Erasmus+ is the EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport for 2014-2020 which started in January 2014.

Erasmus+ builds on the achievements of more than 25 years of European programmes implemented by the Commission during the period 2007-2013.

"Erasmus+: Erasmus", in relation to the activities of the Programme, exclusively relates to the field of higher education and targeting Programme Countries.
Erasmus as a mobility programme promotes international cooperation between universities, students and teachers.

Erasmus students might take this unique opportunity to spend a semester or full academic year at a hosting organisation in another country and gain valuable lifelong experience.

Erasmus grant recipients are selected by their home university and receive a small mobility allowance. No tuition fees are charged.

The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague joined the Erasmus programme on the first possible occasion, i.e. in the academic year 1998-1999.

UCT Prague currently has over 100 Erasmus+ bilateral agreements with their partner universities. Every year more than 150 international students take advantage of Erasmus programme and come for study at the UCT Prague.

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) was designed by the European Commission to enable students to pursue part of their studies abroad; it helps partner universities to compare and mutually accredit their study programmes.

It is based on the comparison of particular requirements concerning individual subjects and takes into account the time needed by each student to pass an examination in the given subject (i.e. time devoted to lectures, seminars, and self-study).

ECTS makes it easier for students to choose from study programmes offered by partner schools abroad. Students may use the ECTS system provided that they themselves, their home university and the partner university abroad approve the suggested study programme.

Students who have successfully completed given study programme abroad may continue their studies with no difficulties, because their study period abroad (and their credits) will be included into their records at their home university.
