UCT Prague is a research university primarily focused on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, material and chemical engineering, food science, and environmental science. Its cutting-edge facilities and equipment together, with an impressive scientific and research profile, make it an ideal training ground for the managerial, R&D, and public sector leaders of the future.
UCT Prague has four faculties. Its competitive edge lies in its unique “weaving together” of teaching activities with the highest-quality basic and applied research. Across UCT Prague, scientific teams are intensively involved in various national and international cooperative R&D efforts. The Project Centre provides methodological and administrative support to researchers submitting project applications and managing funded projects.
UCT Prague considers the commercialisation of applied research to be an important part of its mission. For that reason, UCT Prague’ss Research and Technology Transfer Office offers researchers support, contributing to extending valourisation of scientific outputs and pursuing the quest for new collaborative partners in applied settings. In 2015, UCT Prague opened Technopark Kralupy, a science and technology hub focused on chemistry for building construction applications, materials engineering, and related fields. The Technopark plays an essential role in UCT Prague’s technology transfer efforts and strategies.
The Research and Technology Transfer Office facilitates internal grants for researchers and students, offers opportunities to compete in prestigious research competitions, and promotes active engagement and participation in student conferences.
UCT Prague is an attractive institution for young scientists and early career researchers, and the Project Centre actively supports hosting and mentoring ECRs, e.g. as part of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Here, ECRs can apply for a prestigious start-up grant, the Dagmar Procházková Fund, in order to create their own UCT Prague research groups. Postdoctoral fellows at UCT Prague receive extensive international mobility support for broadening their research horizons.
UCT Prague is actively involved in global scientific efforts and is continuously expanding and deepening its collaborations with partners around the world. The basic pillars of these activities include scientific research projects, inter-university cooperation memoranda, and Erasmus+ agreements. UCT Prague additionally creates and accredits joint study programmes with universities abroad.
Paving the way for the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, UCT Prague is committed to creating collegial working conditions, supporting continuous professional development, and transparent hiring procedures. The Personnel Department co-creates facilities for employees together with the Welcome Centre, which supports employees arriving from abroad, from assisting with the visa process to answering questions about everyday life in Prague. In its determination to be an attractive and welcoming institution for all employees and students, UCT Prague has created a Gender Equality Plan, an executive action initiative.

Thanks to a national funding scheme for positively evaluated proposals not reaching the MSCA PF grant, we regularly secure additional funding for both incoming and outgoing postdocs („Chemfells“ projects).
We strive to seize other opportunities, including under the national operational programmes co-funded by EU (ESIF), which has allowed for additional incoming mobilities („ChemJets“ projects).
The Project Centre is equally excited to assist UCT Prague postdocs wishing to go abroad, in the framework of any relevant scheme.

[obsah] => We actively support proposals and welcome postdoctoral researchers under the prestigeous Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF), previously known as Individual Fellowships (MSCA IF). The grants are provided by the European Commission in the framework of the research programme Horizon Europe for 2021-2027.

Out of 22 proposals submitted by UCT Prague in 2022, 14 qualify for funding (MSCA or national) and may be implemented.
What is it about?
The MSCA PF is an individual research project, in any area of research, prepared by the postdoctoral researcher in cooperation with the supervisor based at the host institution.
The aim is to support creativity, innovativeness and new skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility.

Applicants wishing to apply with UCT Prague as host institution prepare a European PF.

UCT Prague has hosted grantees of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral (previously Individual) Fellowships since 2017.
Chemfells
In addition, MSCA Fellowship proposals not reaching directly the MSCA grant, but getting at least 70% in the evalution, have been systematically funded by the European Structural and Investment Funds-ESIF since the 2017 call, via the national Operational Programme for Research, Development and Education (2014-2021).
16 incoming and 3 outgoing MSCA fellowship proposals could so far be implemented this way, grouped under UCT Prague projects named Chemfells („Chemical Fellows“):

- Chemfells II (11/2018 – 11/2020)
- Chemfells III (9/2019 – 12/2021)
- Chemfells IV (10/2020 – 6/2023)
Support to positively evaluated MSCA PF proposals (score >70%) will continue under a new ESIF co-funded Johannes Amos Comenius Programme (2021-2027), which we expect to result in a new project of up to 12 fellowships:

ChemJets
UCT fully used funds allocated to research mobility and internationalisation of the university working environment in two specific calls under the ESIF co-funded Operational Programme Research, Development and Education.
This allowed for 22 incoming postdoctoral fellowships spread accross different research groups of our 4 faculties, and grouped into two projects:
- ChemJets (1/2018 – 12/2020)
- ChemJets2 (5/2020 – 6/2023)
Should a similar call arise under the upcoming Johannes Amos Comenius Programme or another scheme, UCT will use the opportunity as best possible, building on the acquired rich experience with mobility projects.

International Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to give a talk at a dedicated Research Fellows Conference, already becoming a tradition at UCT.
Postdocs relocating to UCT Prague from abroad get assistance at all stages of their fellowship preparation and duration by the qualified staff of the Welcome Center, recently established within the International Department.
The PhD_PostDoc Club welcomes all postdoctoral fellows, organises regular monthly gatherings and offers diverse programme both related to research and beyond.
