Summary

The course is oriented on physico-chemical description of kinetics of processes during manufacturing and using of inorganic non-metallic materials. Students will be introduced to basic mathematical models, to principles of models creation and to strategy of estimation of controlling mechanisms

Syllabus

1. Non-catalytical heterogeneous processes - types and mechanisms.
2. Fundamentals of diffusion theory.
3. Diffusion in solids.
4. Theory of heat conduction.
5. Basic types of rheological behavior of materials.
6. Mechanical strength of glass and ceramics, fracture mechanics.
7. Molecular theory of transport processes.
8. Kinetics of phase and modification changes.
9. Kinetics of nucleation and crystallization.
10. Kinetics of thermal decomposition of solids.
11. Kinetics of sintering.
12. Reaction of solids with fluids and gases.
13. Dissolution of compact bodies and granular materials.
14. Kinetics of solid state reactions.
