Summary

Theoretical principles of Materials Engineering and Materials Science. The emphasis is on engineering approach in solving the problems of chemistry and physics of solid state and for the understanding of the relationship between structure, reactivity and properties of solids.

3. X-ray structure of the ideal crystals.
4. Crystal chemistry and categorization of structural types.

6. Reactivity of solids.
7. Synthesis of solids.
8. Chemical bonding in solids - band model.
9. Structure and properties of solids.
10. Mechanical properties of solids.
11. Thermal properties of solids.
12. Electrical properties of solids.
13. Magnetic properties of solids.
14. Optical properties of solids.
