UCT Prague is a research university primarily focused on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, material and chemical engineering, food science, and environmental science. Its cutting-edge facilities and equipment together, with an impressive scientific and research profile, make it an ideal training ground for the managerial, R&D, and public sector leaders of the future.
UCT Prague has four faculties. Its competitive edge lies in its unique “weaving together” of teaching activities with the highest-quality basic and applied research. Across UCT Prague, scientific teams are intensively involved in various national and international cooperative R&D efforts. The Project Centre provides methodological and administrative support to researchers submitting project applications and managing funded projects.
UCT Prague considers the commercialisation of applied research to be an important part of its mission. For that reason, UCT Prague’ss Research and Technology Transfer Office offers researchers support, contributing to extending valourisation of scientific outputs and pursuing the quest for new collaborative partners in applied settings. In 2015, UCT Prague opened Technopark Kralupy, a science and technology hub focused on chemistry for building construction applications, materials engineering, and related fields. The Technopark plays an essential role in UCT Prague’s technology transfer efforts and strategies.
The Research and Technology Transfer Office facilitates internal grants for researchers and students, offers opportunities to compete in prestigious research competitions, and promotes active engagement and participation in student conferences.
UCT Prague is an attractive institution for young scientists and early career researchers, and the Project Centre actively supports hosting and mentoring ECRs, e.g. as part of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Here, ECRs can apply for a prestigious start-up grant, the Dagmar Procházková Fund, in order to create their own UCT Prague research groups. Postdoctoral fellows at UCT Prague receive extensive international mobility support for broadening their research horizons.
UCT Prague is actively involved in global scientific efforts and is continuously expanding and deepening its collaborations with partners around the world. The basic pillars of these activities include scientific research projects, inter-university cooperation memoranda, and Erasmus+ agreements. UCT Prague additionally creates and accredits joint study programmes with universities abroad.
Paving the way for the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, UCT Prague is committed to creating collegial working conditions, supporting continuous professional development, and transparent hiring procedures. The Personnel Department co-creates facilities for employees together with the Welcome Centre, which supports employees arriving from abroad, from assisting with the visa process to answering questions about everyday life in Prague. In its determination to be an attractive and welcoming institution for all employees and students, UCT Prague has created a Gender Equality Plan, an executive action initiative.

Project title: Implementation of the SDG Regulation – Introducing the University Service

The Single Digital Gateway (SDG) is a tool created based on Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 of the European Parliament and of the Council in October of 2018, the objective of which is to provide online access to information, procedures, assistance services, and problem-solving services. Simply put, the SDG is intended to facilitate user communication with public administration by offering the online access to individual agendas, and as a part of them, automatic data collection from various public administration information systems. This is one of the steps towards fulfilling the vision “papers should circulate, not people”. As a result, the Single Digital Gateway will reduce the administrative burden and increase user comfort. With the understanding that, in some agendas, the university is also considered a public authority, it can offer its services as a part of them through the Single Digital Gateway.
In April 2023, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, together with 25 other Czech universities, started the EU-subsidized project “Implementation of the SDG Regulation – Introducing the University Service”, which was assigned the registration number CZ.31.1.01/MV/23_52/0000052. This project deals with the digitalization of two procedures:
- Applications for the financing of university studies, for example in the form of a scholarship and loan from a public authority or institution
- Submitting initial applications for admission to a public higher education institution.
Online forms are available for applicants and students of all public universities in the Czech Republic for submitting university applications and applications for scholarships, and these two procedures will be linked to the NIA/DIA registers (Citizen Identity portal), and in connection with the availability of services for the Czech Republic, to the Once-Only Technical System (OOTS) registers.
The total planned expenditures for the project (inclusive of VAT) are CZK 138,404,197.48.
The project is supported by EU funds – the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

The closest metro station is Dejvická (line A, green), and there is also a tram and a bus stop of the same name.
The UCT Prague campus in Dejvice (see map scheme on the right) consists of 3 buildings (A, B, C). The main entrances to buildings A and B are located on Technická street. The Department of International Relations, as well as the Dean's offices od all faculties, are located in building B, with the closest entrance being on Zikova street.
Indoor navigation
For navigation inside the buildings we strongly recommend using the school EMIL application which will help you find your way. Note that UCT is like a little maze and it is very easy to get lost in the hallways.

How to Get to UCT from the Airport
We recommend using public transportation when going from the airport Letiště Václava Havla to the city as it is the cheapest and easiest option. See this instructional video on how to get from the airport by bus and metro.
Take bus 119 to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station, then take the metro (line A, green) in the direction Depo Hostivař and get off at the Dejvická metro station. Go up the escalators, and continue to the right-side exit stairs that will take you directly to the university. The trip takes about twenty-five minutes.
Don’t forget to buy a ticket for public transport. You can do so by purchasing the ticket in a machine at the bus stop at the airport, or by buying the ticket in the PID Litacka application (we recommend using this app as you can also find the timetables of the public transportation there.)
How to Get to the Dormitories from the Airport
When going from the airport to the dormitories, you will use the same direction as when going to the university.
In front of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, get on board bus 119 and ride to Nadrazi Veleslavin. After getting off the bus go inside the metro station, and catch a metro train in the direction of Depo Hostivař. Ride to station Muzeum. At Muzeum, change lines (from line A (green) to line C (red)) and take the metro C to the station Chodov. At Chodov, there is a large shopping center just right above the metro station, therefore, you can do some after-arrival shopping if needed. After getting out of the metro, catch bus 177 and ride to the bus stop Volha. From there, dormitories are 3 minutes of walk away.
It will take about 1 hour to get from the airport to the dormitories.
