Technology transfer: for employees

The Research and Technology Transfer Office handles intellectual property protection issues, conducts analyses, and otherwise facilitating valorisation of research activities. The Office also communicates with and deepens connections to industrial partners.

The Office also handles discussions with industrial partners interested in using UCT Prague’s special instrumentation and laboratory equipment, fosters the transfer of research know how to interested parties, and actively seeks new strategic R&D partnerships.


Services for employees


  • Recommendations for protecting intellectual property rights in pertinent ways (i.e. utility design, industrial design, trademark, patent)
  • Methodological support for inventors registering and launching their innovations
  • Consultations on how to appropriately handle and leverage R&D outcomes


Cooperation with a patent attorney, including analyses of industrial legal status

  • Product patent landscape mapping, patent analyses
  • How to submit a patent application
  • Patent research, including novelty scans
  • Patent limitation analyses (material, regional, and temporal limitations)
  • Consultations about administrative requirements (about research requests, changes in registers, validity extensions of validity, and so on)
  • Application processing (utility design, industrial design, trademark, patent)


Direct representation with governmental authorities

  • Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic (IPO CZ)


Technology transfer services

  • Negotiations with patent representatives and authorities in the Czech Republic and abroad
  • Licensing negotiations and securing contracts
  • Transfer of knowledge, experience, and know-how
  • Training for researchers and students in industrial-legal protection
