UCT Prague is a research university primarily focused on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, material and chemical engineering, food science, and environmental science. Its cutting-edge facilities and equipment together, with an impressive scientific and research profile, make it an ideal training ground for the managerial, R&D, and public sector leaders of the future.
UCT Prague has four faculties. Its competitive edge lies in its unique “weaving together” of teaching activities with the highest-quality basic and applied research. Across UCT Prague, scientific teams are intensively involved in various national and international cooperative R&D efforts. The Project Centre provides methodological and administrative support to researchers submitting project applications and managing funded projects.
UCT Prague considers the commercialisation of applied research to be an important part of its mission. For that reason, UCT Prague’ss Research and Technology Transfer Office offers researchers support, contributing to extending valourisation of scientific outputs and pursuing the quest for new collaborative partners in applied settings. In 2015, UCT Prague opened Technopark Kralupy, a science and technology hub focused on chemistry for building construction applications, materials engineering, and related fields. The Technopark plays an essential role in UCT Prague’s technology transfer efforts and strategies.
The Research and Technology Transfer Office facilitates internal grants for researchers and students, offers opportunities to compete in prestigious research competitions, and promotes active engagement and participation in student conferences.
UCT Prague is an attractive institution for young scientists and early career researchers, and the Project Centre actively supports hosting and mentoring ECRs, e.g. as part of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Here, ECRs can apply for a prestigious start-up grant, the Dagmar Procházková Fund, in order to create their own UCT Prague research groups. Postdoctoral fellows at UCT Prague receive extensive international mobility support for broadening their research horizons.
UCT Prague is actively involved in global scientific efforts and is continuously expanding and deepening its collaborations with partners around the world. The basic pillars of these activities include scientific research projects, inter-university cooperation memoranda, and Erasmus+ agreements. UCT Prague additionally creates and accredits joint study programmes with universities abroad.
Paving the way for the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, UCT Prague is committed to creating collegial working conditions, supporting continuous professional development, and transparent hiring procedures. The Personnel Department co-creates facilities for employees together with the Welcome Centre, which supports employees arriving from abroad, from assisting with the visa process to answering questions about everyday life in Prague. In its determination to be an attractive and welcoming institution for all employees and students, UCT Prague has created a Gender Equality Plan, an executive action initiative.

- Proposal for a change in the project (Návrh na změnu v projektu) - the researcher submits the filled in form of the Proposal to the Faculty Grant Commission (FGK). The form is to be found in MIS - Grants and Projects (Granty a projekty) - on the project line under the icon Actions (Akce) – Forms (Formuláře) - Proposal for a change in the project (Návrh na změnu v projektu). The scan of the signed and approved Proposal uploads the main researcher into the MIS - same path – Files (Soubory) - Changes in the project (Změny). In case of a change of the principal investigator, the researcher informs the contact persons of the 965 Research and Technology Transfer Office (Oddělení pro výzkum a transfer technologií) (losmanom@vscht.cz or veronika.popova@vscht.cz).
- OBD - Entering results from VIGA (scientific IGA projects) in the OBD:
Only S funding or a combination with P or I can be used. IGA Funder is MŠMT (Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports).
If, as a doctoral candidate, you enter the results into the OBD and terminate your tenure at UCT, Prague, transfer ownership of the OBD results to your supervisor so that any incomplete or incorrect entries can be supplemented/corrected.

Do you have an idea for a cultural, sports, educational or social activity that would be interesting for other students of the University of Applied Sciences in Prague? The Social Internal Agency of UCT Prague (SIGA) enables students to receive financial support for these activities.
The Chemists' Ball, Orchestra, ChemChor, UniArt, Orienteering Run, Labyrinth at School or the Institute of Board and Card Games started as a social grant. All of these activities have a firm place in the school and have significantly outgrown the small grant competition.
Don't be afraid to be original! A few examples for all:
Remember that your ideas don't just have to bring the experience of a social event, the "social" dimension is broader. One area that is sometimes a bit neglected is sharing academic values, for example. These are undoubtedly social and one of the pillars of European culture. They could be developed, for example, in the form of talks or a purely student periodical. Furthermore, amateur film or comedy shows certainly have the same space as theatre and do not require a live audience. Or charity and volunteer activities. There are also so-called e-sports, tournaments in online games of all types.

The student Internal Grant Competition - IGRA@UCTP is an integral part of the “Internal Grants Reinforcing Activities for Doctoral Study Programmes at UCTP“ Project (IGRA@UCTP; Officially in Czech: Činnosti k podpoře interních grantů pro doktorské studijní programy na VŠCHT Praha, awarded to UCT Prague within the Call OP VVV 02_19_073 Zvyšování kvality interních grantových schémat na VŠ (Enhancement of quality of internal grant schemes at higher education institutions) under the registration number.
The aim of the entire IGRA@UCTP project is to create an effective competition scheme for granting the support to the students’ projects and an up-to-date environment enhancing the readiness of the applicants and team members eligible for the support for research projects.

The purpose and main objective of the implementation of the IGRA@UCTP project is to verify the importance and impacts of the novel features in the grant competition scheme of UCT Prague. The following form significant and integral parts of the project:
- Strengthening and development of transferable competences and skills of PhD students participating in the competition through learning and training activities envisaged for the applicants, and, after the competition, for (namely but not exclusively) successful project members as well as academics and administrative staff.
- Use of two reviewers of the project proposal with participation of external experts and alignment of the evaluation process within the competition, i.e. “calibration” of the evaluators.
- Within the student Internal Grant Competition - IGRA@UCTP, to provide a 20 months long support to the students’ projects, with the aim to foster excellent fundamental research activities in the areas the doctoral study programmes at UCT Prague are developed in (ideally with an accent on inter-disciplinary research), and to assess the benefits of the activities stated in the preceding points in terms of quality of the internal grant competition.
The directive A/S/961/2/2020 – Principles of Internal Grant Competition of UCT Prague IGRA@UCTP (see this page below) sets forth the principles of the competition, and its accompanying documents clarify the rules of the evaluation applied within the competition.
The opening of the competition will be announced in a decree issued by the Rector of UCT Prague.
Dear potential IGRA project team members and mentors,
In order to ensure successful implementation of the IGRA project, among others, we organize trainings that should enhance your knowledge and competences in different areas of research and science. Some of you already participated in the on-line trainings provided in December (they fall into the categories stated below – trainings organized by the Department of Research and Development, in the scope of 2 x 2 hours). In the future, we plan to hold more training sessions, either face-to-face or online – depending on the then current (pandemic) situation; however, we won't hesitate to announce the training sessions and we'll keep updating this website with the dates of the individual events. For most training sessions, we plan two dates so that you don't miss out on any topic of your interest. Having said that, we strongly suggest – go ahead and sign up! On the other hand, the project will be running for several semesters; so if you don't succeed in registering for a training event of your choice, there are still chances you'll be able to enrol next semester as well.

The IGRA@UCTP competetion is open to submission from February 1 to February 28, 2021, 12 AM.

For the correct submission of the project proposal within the IGRA@UCTP competition please note:
PROJECT PROPOSAL TEMPLATE (available also in the electronic application) - download the template, fill it in in accordance with the tender documentation (Principles and Announcement) and upload it as a mandatory attachment. The project proposal must be elaborated and submitted in English, including the use of an English template, see Announcement, Article 7). The application was narrowed in the last phase of development - some fields for filling in were dropped, compared to the previews with which those interested were acquainted during the introductory seminar, and become newly a part of the template.
MENTORS - for each student in the research team a mentor must be assigned. The mentor participating in the project is exclusively the supervisor or supervisor-specialist of a particular student according to his/her ISP ( see Announcement, article 12) - check in the e-doktorand system or SIS. Thus the same mentor can be assigned to more students. The application itself offers supervisors and supervisor-specialists to individual students in a team - if they are not entered in the SIS, please contact the Dean's office.
ELECTRONIC CONSENT to participate in the project, resp. with the submission of the grant application (see Announcement, Article 5) - make a time reserve for obtaining the necessary electronic consents.
HONORARY STATEMENTS - in the form of check boxes - must be ticked and adhered to. It is a matter of compliance with the limits of work capacities, IGA x IGRA, dissertation x IGRA (see the requirements given in the tender documentation).
