Return Grants – the RESTART Project
Financial support is provided for a research project aimed at supporting the return of researchers to their careers after a long-term interruption (e.g., due to maternity/parental leave, long-term illness, or child care).
Results of the First Call: Funded Return Grant Projects
In the first call for return grants, the following applicants were successful with their projects:
- Ing. Soňa Hříbalová, Ph.D., FCHT/107 – KNN-based Piezoelectric Ceramics for Anti-infective Biomaterials: From Bone Implant Applications to Broader Antimicrobial Potential
- Valeriia Korolova, M.Sc., Ph.D., FET/228 – Rehydrated MgAl Hydrotalcites as Efficient Heterogeneous Catalysts for Claisen–Schmidt Condensation: A Sustainable Path to Potent Antitumor Agents
- Ing. Alžběta Dostálková, Ph.D., FFBT/319 – Molecular Determinants of Retroviral gRNA Selection: Dimerization, Intracellular Localization, and Polyprotein Recognition
- Ing. Eva Vaňková, Ph.D., FCHI/444 – Plasma-Induced Control of Microbial Survival and Regrowth on 3D-Printed Gyroid Scaffolds

The First Call
As of April 30, 2026, the submission period for the first call for proposals has closed. A total of 13 applications were received, which, following a formal review, were forwarded to the Scientific Committee for evaluation.
- In 2026, return grants with a maximum duration of two years may be supported
- The latest start date for the project is January 1, 2027
- The latest date for completing the project is June 30, 2029
- The maximum amount of allocated funds is based on the return grant calculator (see the attachment in the documents)

Application for the competition (up to April 30)
Application for the competition à Project proposals may be submitted by April 30, 2026, at 3pm CET via the APPLICATION FORM.
Please review the Project Rules and Guidelines, including the annexes (evaluation criteria, calculators)
While preparing your project proposal, we strongly recommend contacting the head of the institute where the project is to be carried out in a timely manner.
